52 Photos Project   Albers Mill Reflection  © 2010 - 2011 Meri Arnett-Kremian. This week's theme - Reflection. My photo above is the one that's included in a photography exhibit at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma  that has its opening on Saturday. The exhibit relates to the museum's architecture  and outdoor art installations including the Bridge of Glass installation by Dale Chihuly. Here's a hint of the glorious colors in the Glass Bridge. Weekend Reflection: Windows

Image
I love reflections,  especially ones where reversed images  of things outside  bounce off windows,  obscuring the view of what's inside but showing us a picture of something else entirely. There's something intriguing about the idea that  transparency  can both reveal and conceal. We usually think of revealing, seeing through to the interior, being an open book, when we think of "transparent." We don't usually think of mirroring, hiding, playing tricks with light. So here are three examples of this phenomenon, all in different parts of the world.  So what's your pleasure? Cathedrals? Narrow Venetian passages? Hot shops and making glass? Your answer may reflect who you are inside. (For more Weekend Reflections, click on the icon on the menu bar to the right).

Mosaic Monday: Dale Chihuly Glass Tour

Image
Tacoma is home to the internationally-known Museum of Glass and its glass bridge is an homage to Dale Chihuly, featuring a large glass installation. Dale Chihuly is a  Tacoma favorite son  and many of his creative conceptions  grace museums and other buildings in the area. The Tacoma Art Museum is the proud owner of  a significant collection of Chihuly glass, for example. You even can do a walking tour of Chihuly glass  in downtown Tacoma using your cell phone to hear information about the pieces on display  in various public and private sites. So I thought I'd treat you to a blog tour of my own, featuring the works of Dale Chihuly on public display at the outdoor bridge of glass. All you have to do is look up. I'll give you fair warning: if you're there up close and personal you can get a stiff neck in no time flat. For more Mosaic Monday, click here .
