Meri's Play Place

This week's theme for 52 Photos Project is water drops. Plenty of those falling  out of the sky  right now.  They beat a soft snare drum sound  all night on the skylight in my bathroom. Somehow, those water drops  seem most suited for soaking into the garden than capturing with my camera. I'll bless them, of course, but leave them to do their job. Which is to create shots like this one. "Ballerinas" ©2011 Meri Arnett-Kremian I got up early one morning  when the sun had broken through the clouds, remnants of the previous night's showers, and went out camera in hand to meditate through the view finder. Looking up looking down there was magic all around me.

My blog friend Bonnie is hosting Photo Art Friday and invites participants to link to a post where they've featured their own artistic photo. For my first submission, I'm posting this photo called "Spirit Dancer" Spirit Dancer © 2011 Meri Arnett-Kremian that I like so much I'm having it printed on canvas just to see how it looks. I want to include it in the "Day of the Dead" exhibit I'm putting up in the local Key Bank branch.

Images with reflections are near and dear to my heart. They just seem magical to me. This one was truly a lucky shot. Loved the way it looked. Printed it and entered it in the local art show. It was one of two pieces that sold. I called it "Virgo, Aries Rising." For more reflections on reflections, click HERE . 

I'm late. Without a good reason. Because I really wanted to join in on this  THEME THURSDAY . It's challenging. Conceptual. So for REASON I chose this photo and by way of explanation, I made that choice  1. Just because I can. 2. It's fun to play with layers and filters. 3. You never know what's going to emerge when things are combined.  I see all kinds of things.

Swirls are a familiar motif in the work of Dale Chihuly.

Forgive me, please. I'm recycling a mosaic of Italy that I posted earlier the year, the one that made me realize just how much I wanted to go back to Italy, even though this time, my first time without the company of the man I loved more than I should have, it will be a whole new experience.  By now, I'm in Rome. Signed up for an after-hours tour of the Vatican Museums this very Mosaic Monday. I'm doing a day trip to Pompeii  and the Amalfi Coast tomorrow, then off to Venice by train on Thursday (barring a rail strike). My photo workshop kicks off Thursday evening. Wish me luck!
