52 Photos Project: Water

Image
This week's 52 PHOTOS PROJECT theme is water. Water's a magician. . . . it can be transparent or don a coat of many colors, taking on the hues of things around it. It's rarely still enough to be a perfect mirror. Sometimes it's just itself, flowing from source to destination soaking up the sun. lapping quietly against the shore. Sometimes though, it likes to roar.  and splash and make its mark upon the land.

Weekend Reflection: Quietude

Image
Weekend Reflection The pilings thrust upward toward the sky. The water of the canal mirrors their boldness   but softens it somehow, gives the impression that each upright timber extends downward to the center of the earth and fastens us all securely in place  on the ground, so we won't float untethered into the vast beyond. Walkway lights twinkle upside-down like fireworks displays. Soft amber light rolls across the arch in the center of the slumbering bridge. Small ripples tickle the water's edges. The sky's breath separates the clouds just enough so  the light can peek through. Morning comes softly, illuminating the dark corners of my thoughts.

Weekend Reflections: Once Upon a Time

Image
Once upon a time there was an amusement park with roller coasters and other rides at Seattle Center between Experience Music Project (the rock n roll museum) and the Monorail. It made for some interesting reflections in the metal skin of the Frank Gehry-designed EMP. The rides have been dismantled and something more "dignified" will go in the place occupied by the Fun Forest. But I bet the reflections won't be as fun. For more WEEKEND REFLECTIONS, click HERE .
