Making a Difference

Image
When things the magnitude of the disaster in Japan happen, we often feel so overwhelmed and so impotent that we do nothing. Not because we don't care, but because we just don't know how to make a meaningful contribution. Here's a way. Your contribution can be small or large, so long as it comes from the heart. (Clicking on the doll photo will take you to our team's fundraising page so you can join our effort.)

Mosaic Monday: Saints and Miracles

Image
I don't know if you pray and believe in miracles. But a lot of people pay their respects to sainted ladies and swear that miracles happen. I, for one, choose to believe because having faith that miracles happen brings me HOPE when world events deplete my supply. If, like me, you've felt overwhelmed by  the magnitude of the tragedy in Japan and haven't known how to make a difference, you can join the AQUATIC ANGELS TEAM and help deliver a Shelter Box to a family  in the disaster zone by clicking HERE .  Our team goal is $2000 and we'd love to have you join in our efforts. (We've purchased the first Shelter Box  and are working on a second one!)

Theme Thursday: Luck

Weekend Reflection: Quietude

Image
Weekend Reflection The pilings thrust upward toward the sky. The water of the canal mirrors their boldness   but softens it somehow, gives the impression that each upright timber extends downward to the center of the earth and fastens us all securely in place  on the ground, so we won't float untethered into the vast beyond. Walkway lights twinkle upside-down like fireworks displays. Soft amber light rolls across the arch in the center of the slumbering bridge. Small ripples tickle the water's edges. The sky's breath separates the clouds just enough so  the light can peek through. Morning comes softly, illuminating the dark corners of my thoughts.

Theme Thursday: Book

Image
Theme Thursday's topic this week is BOOK. There's a topic that's dear to my heart. All you true book lovers out there, I have a question. Have you transitioned to virtual books? How could you possibly give up the smell of ink, the feel of the velvety pages, the sound of the pages turning, the heft of the book in your hands, the knowing that your favorite passage was about 2/3 of the way through the book on the right-hand side, second paragraph from the bottom? Is reading the same sensual pleasure? Don't forget, this is also Click on the STJT icon on the sidebar for today's Play Along.
