To The Dads in My Life

It's a day to celebrate Fathers,
and the place they hold in our lives. . .

fathers
here and gone

My father,
very much here,
with my sons

He's blessed with great curiosity,
wisdom, a lively mind, still-quick-reflexes,
and the gift of grandchildren
and great grandchildren to enjoy.

There's the father of my sons. . .
blessed with a zest for adventure, a love of sports,
and the ability to turn the "game" of golf
into a quest for perfection.

My daughter's father, Jon --
brilliant, caring, musical, a great conceptual thinker

There's my elder son,
great, systematic problem solver,
patient teacher,
fabulous husband,
tender, loving father. . . .

and there are fathers that have gone before,
blazing a trail,
leaving their genetic material
as a DNA ladder for us to climb

My mother's father, with his bride
Lela Emmoline Lile
(my mother's mother)

my father's father Loren Lloyd Arnett
(with his bride, my grandmother Mafie Marie Arnett)

and of course,
the fathers of my grandfathers

Immigrant Swede, Samuel Miller (born Bengtsson)
father of my mother's father

and

Anvil James Arnett, father of my father's father,
and Mary Biggs Arnett, my paternal great-grandmother.

Happy Father's Day
to the Fathers in my life!

A lovely tribute to Fathers !! I wish my daughters would even read my blogs, let alone write such charming words. But they did not forget me on Fathers' Day however !

I like the photo of the whole family in the car on a Sunday outing. An excellent collection, thank you.
Meri, a very beautiful tribute to all the fathers in your family. Love the photos way back. Great post.

A wonderful tribute to fathers past and present, whether speia or not.
I so love the photo with the car. It says everything. A nice house. A nice car. A nice family.

And your great grands in the last shot look very kind. Sometimes personalities do come through in old shots.

I definitely enjoyed your generational appreciation...which I also did on several blogs. Happy day after father's day!
