Celebrating the Virgin - Day 1

Each year at this time, my dear friend Rebecca
Invites us to celebrate the Virgin with her

The icon that is woven through Catholicism,
The tribute to the Great Mother,
The Feminine Divine.
She is the soft face of God for Christians,
The lady of grace and compassion.

Won't you join the celebration?

Dear Meri, I read your post about the word Close, and then decided to check your other blog. How blessed I was to find this. Mary has always been a big part of my life and it is no coincidence I found myself here. You are so wise beyond your years. Of course I don't know how old you are but that does not matter. You have so much to give to others. I will be joining this celebration.

I just went through the house and realized I have four Our Lady of Guadalupe statues, I guess She's trying to say something....

Thank you for sharing!
Exquisite, clothed in magnificent blue, head bowed, she prays for all of us.

I love that statue. I can't help but be drawn to the artistry in how Mary is depicted as well as what her embodiment stands for. Great stuff.

Peace
The Lady of Grace and Compassion. Words that I can easily and happily linger upon.

Gorgeous--inspiring and beautiful. Thank you for sharing her with us. :)
Meri,
I love this statue. The beautiful blue cloak, the poignant and wistful look on Mary's face and the splendid and colorful flowers around her. Just a beautiful image and the phrase, "soft face of God" yes, how poetic and heart opening those words are. Lovely. Thank you.
xo,
Noelle
What delightful shadow-and-light play on this little representation of Mary!
